Your baby this week

Your baby now weighs about 1.5kg and measures about 41cm from crown to toe. The arms, legs and body continue to fill out  and finally become proportional in size to the head.

Your baby is quickly approaching his/her birth length and during the next several weeks your baby will really begin to put on the weight. You may notice that he/she is probably moving a lot. This may make it hard for you sleep especially when your baby’s kicks and somersaults keep you awake.

Your body this week

You’ve probably gained a good amount of weight this month, somewhere between 1.3kg and 1.8kg. Gaining 450g a week is quite normal during the last trimester as your baby’s growth quickens up in preparation for his entry into the world.

If have noticed some leaking of colostrum from your breasts lately, this is normal. You can put some nursing pads into your bra to protect your clothes.

Here are several other different things that you can anticipate during this time:

  • Backpain
  • Increasing clumsiness
  • Forgetfulness
  • More frequent urination
  • Occasional headaches
  • Varicose veins
  • Possible nasal congestion
  • Lower abdominal pain
