A+ A A-

Being a new mom can get overwhelming, you may be wondering how to manage those baby care basics and how to best care for your newborn. Whether this is your first child or fourth, the first few weeks with a newborn are both divine and exhausting.

  • What is baby bottle tooth decay?

Baby bottle tooth decay (BBTD) is the main type of tooth decay in infants. Infants that are allowed to have a bottle in bed or older toddlers that are allowed to carry around a bottle during the day are at risk for this type of tooth decay.Using a sippy cup in this manner also can cause tooth decay.

All babies are different and the timing of teething varies. Some babies are born with their first teeth, some start teething before they are 6 months and some after 12months.
Early teething should not be an issue, unless it affects feeding.

A baby’s first teeth (known as milk or deciduous teeth) usually develop while the child is growing in the womb. In most babies, these teeth start to emerge through the gums when they are around six months old. This process is known as teething.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that we begin introducing solids to baby around six months of age. Prior to six month of age baby's digestive system is developing and the immune system is also strengthening.

Dealing with children who are fussy eaters can be very difficult. Most parents go through this stage at some point. As moms, we all want our toddlers to get the nutrition they need and can feel a little stressed if they refuse to let anything healthy pass their lips.
